Can I restore LTO2 backup tapes on a LTO3 tape drive?
HP LTO2 Ultrium tape restore error
I am trying to restore a HP LTO2 Ultrium tape and keep on getting theĀ same error “error opening input file FM:2 Blk:10. This is followed by the next screen which states:” Expected header or filemark not found at logical 1:9″ Is the tape capable of being restored, if so how?

Can we simulate a library with multiple tape drives?
We have several LTO3 tape drives instead of purchasing a library can we make use of the 4 drives like a library to span tapes without having to load new ones? Using Backup Exec 12 on Win 2008 R2.

Using tapes (LTO2) from a Windows server 2003 and NTBackup. Is this possible? Can I backup to the tape and selectively restore? Or will I need more robust software?

Are LTO tapes backwards compatible. Why would I not be able to read old tapes?
We have 6 year old LTO tapes. We are trying to restore data from them using a LTO4 drive. We can not read the tapes at all. Not even the label. Can this be fixed? Any ideas? The drives are backwards compatible right?
