LOADRUNNER functions to take on performing load testing for the related projects.

I have an application that contains different technologies such as a mainframe backend, IBM UDB DB, and a .Net front end.

My question is: How do I identify the protocol to select in LoadRunner, or what are the questions that I need to ask for approaching the performing testing of this type of application.

We want to conduct Load testing to find out the break points. And at the same time we should be able to trouble-shoot where & why the issues are ? possibility of improving this break point level? etc

The reason is we want to have Benchmark results to show the customer that our product is stable/ reliable upto this load and these are our execution results.

What can be the systematic test strategy/ approach to conduct load testing?
