We have an old red hat box here I am trying to virtualize with little success.
I have the drives backup up and restored from backups to virtaul drvies using Acronis. I have done this in the past with windows and had no issues.
However I am getting a kernel panic error when I try to boot the linux box up.
The linux box is on a RAID, should I create a virtual drive for each RAID drive? and is it possible to make a RAID setup on a virtual machine?
Currently I have two virtual drives, which is what the linux box sees only physical.
I was reading about how you need to edit the lines in the linux machine to modify the mount/boot points, but don’t have any idea how to do that. Any help or ideas would be wlecome.

We’re a heavy Microsoft shop and I’m standing up our first Linux servers and wish to intergrate them into Active Directory.

We’re using Red Hat and the Oracle Unbreakable Linux (Oracle sponsered RHEL) and I want to intergrate the systems into AD for ease of control and to ensure our existing IT policies can be enforced.

I’ve done some work with Ubuntu based servers and used LikewiseOpen to intergrate into AD with some success. But the limited lab work was very small scale compared to production roll-out I’m planning now.

I’m curious to know the best methods for RHEL and if Likewise is the best way to go? Also what are the pitfalls?

I have 34 computers. In which 16 are P3
1.10 Ghz, Foxconn MB with various mb of ram viz. 128Mb, 256mb even 64mb
are also there..And rest r Intel P4 2.80 Ghz, original MB with 512 mb
ram. HDD r all 80 gb (some of them were replaced by new hdd). They r all loaded with mixed windows flavours like 98SE, XP. Now
I am trying to convert all the computers with Linux OS (SLED and
Fedora with only one to be a Server). Any one can help me to what
considerations shall I consider to do the job. I mean to say, with /
without change HW except ram for 16 computers.

Thanks to all !
