How is it possible to detect/locate/discover a duplicate IP address in a network? If this network has a router, does this method of discovery still work?

IP address question.

I have some access units that come from the factory with the same default IP address. When we connect the units to the network to configure them we get IP address conflicts. Is there any way to isolate the units so we can configure them without having to do one at a time? Thanks, Ernesto
