I recently updated my windows because my c: drive quit working. I had to install windows on d: drive in order to get my computer to even work. I then updated my c: drive with windows update (I had to have windows on the computer in order to update my c: drive-c: drive was missing a system 32 file so could not read windows that is why I had to install a different version on d: drive, once I did that I could update c: drive with windows home edition). The problem now lies in the fact that some of my old files show, and some don’t but I can see that the same amount of storage is taken up so I know they are there. The bigger problem is that my ethernet no longer shows in either version on both drives. Help please, I’m okay with computers but not great.

I click SQL Server 2000 Components on the first screen. I click Install Database Server on the next screen. An InstallShield icon appears for a few seconds and then nothing. I check Windows Task Manager and see that sqlstp.ejxe and setupsql.exe are running. I am expecting to see a welcome screen where I select client component installation. This never appears. Any advise as to what I am doing wrong?

Hi folks

I have a 64-bit vista ultimate PC with all SP’s applied.

I have been attemting to upgrade the existing instance of SQL Server Expr to SP2, but it stops installing with an error dialog box saying:

SQL BPA command line has stopped working

Eventually I end up on a web page containing the following info:

Details
Product: SQL Server
ID: SQLSetup90
Source: setup.rll
Version: 9.00.1291.00
Component: SQL Server Setup
Message: To continue you must provide a strong sa password.

Explanation
You selected Mixed Mode authentication, but did not provide a strong password.

When I open up Management Studio Expr and examine Server Properties for the existing instance, it shows “Windows Authentication”. Within the installation wizard I definitely have chosen “Windows Authentication”.

So, currently I am somewhat mystified.

If somebody could give me a hand with this it would be wonderful.

Kind regards

Ross
