How do I duplicate or clone a dying SATA drive?

If a sata drive is dying what is the best method to duplicate or clone it without risking the data? Is this the same for ide or scsi drives? If not please list the best methods for these as well across any platform.

Crystal Reports migration issue

I have report created with CR basic for VS .NET 2003. Some time ago i have to put this report to project crearted in VS 2008. IDE automaticly converted the report to the newest version of CR.
Report include one subreport. When this report is printed from .NET 2003 project it looks fine. When i print the same report from VS 2008 project, the whole content (all object) in report are smaller than the original report. Maybe there was an error durning convertion? How to correct this?

Data Recovery from hard disk

hi,

I have one 40 GB IDE harddisk. it’s burn. now when i try on switch on my pc. it’s get shut done. but my pc is working with other HD. I have some imp. data hard drive. my question is that if i remove data disk (metal plate)from HD. and put that on other one will i able to get the data back???

Sata drive hijacking the boot process?

I tried installing a Sata drive as a secondary drive (to the existing IDE). First I could not get the onboard Sata connections to work, so installed a Sata card. After wrestling with drivers, it was finally up & running….but apparently wants to take over as soon as Windows (XP sp3) starts to load. The Sata drive starts working away, and the IDE HD stops loading windows. The IDE HD is properly set as the 1st boot device…I’m at a total loss as to why it appears to be switching over to the Sata drive before it finishes loading. Any thoughts/suggestions surely welcome……

I am trying to install VMware ESXi 3.5 on a machine with an IDE drive and am getting the following error message:
“Unable to find a supported device to write the VMware ESX Server 3i 3.5.0 image to”.

I followed the discussion about putting IDE drives into a system with SATA drives. I’ve done this successfully, but on one machine (Win XP Pro), the system constantly reboots if an IDE drive is attached to the cable marked ‘slave’. I removed the jumper according the instructions on the drive. Is there a fix for this?

Install IDE drive as slave on a Vista Dual Core Processor w/SATA primary drive

First: Got a new Vista machine (pentium Dual Core Processor) w/SATA hard drive. Want to install a 5 year old 40 gig Western Digital IDE drive as a slave for storage. The motherboard has what looks like a connection for an IDE drive. The connection on the board is blue to match the blue end of the IDE 80 wire ribbon cable. Therefore I’m making an assumption. Someone at Best Buy said if I installed a drive that old it could blow up my new computer. Doesn’t sound right, but thought I’d check it out first. I haven’t messed with pc hardware for about 5 years and everything has changed. I’m also assuming a ribbon cable will work, and I don’t need to buy one of those new round ones.

Second: how do I set the jumpers. The SATA has 4 sets of 2. Definely not the same as the 5 sets of 2 on the IDE. Do I need to set SATA as master and IDE as slave?

Any tips?
