Can someone help me how to connect AS/400 520 with my PC. I have client access. I am using crossover cable. Please help me with very easy steps.

How can i check if my i520 can take how many laprs. Currently i am running on V5R4 on the lapr parttion I WANT TO INTALL V6R1.

what is LPAR Validation Tool ? I am searching for it but unable to locate it on the IBM web site ?

Should HMC updates or I5/OS updates be done first?

I would like to block all users except the programmers from using either of these commands. I have tried using *Exclude for *Public and it blocks all users with a *USER for user class but does not block the users with a *SYSOPR user class and they are the ones I need to block. Anyone have any ideas. I have never built an authorization list so I’m not sure even where to start with building one. Thanks for any help

Signing onto i520 in Restricted State

Is there any way that I can access my system remotely if the system is in restricted state. I need to start doing SAVSYS’s on a more regular basis and don’t want to have to keep going into work to be able to do so. I currently access remotely using tcp/ip but obviously, the subsystems are down for this. I have set up a session that jcomes in QCTL but this will not help for this Regards, Julie

Backup and Restore using Arcserve on i520

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can give me some advise regards to backing up and restoring using Arcserve.

We have establihed a link from the Network LTO3 backup tape library using Arcserve and have managed to Save and Restore a library.

My questions are as follows:

1) How would I be able to do a full SAVSYS using this, as far as I am concerned, you need to bring the system down to a restricted state to do this which means TCP/IP will be down so Arcserve will not be able to save all of the libraries (actually none at all)

2) If there is a solution to this and we should need to do a full DRP Recovery from this media, how would I tell the AS400 to talk to this device to load operating system and all the other stuff from this tape library

Has anyone installed a digital certificate on an iSeries lately? For example, a certificate from VeriSign or GoDaddy. Can you give me any pointers?

After the certificate is installed we need to export it to a Microsoft ISA server which will be the front door for users who need to use our AS/400 application via the web.

iSeries Navigator message monitor failing on endpoint system

After years of working very well, iSeries Nagivator (Ops Nav) refuses to monitor messags on an endpoint iSeries. This is a recent development. Its been working just fine on the endpoint in question for the last 3+ years. The QYPSJSVR job log shows CPFB904 and CPFB905. Both are running V5R4 and iSeries Nav is current. Has anyone else had this problem?

I did find one IBM document on this topic that is several years old. I followed its instructions but that did not fix the problem.

How would you allocate dynamic resources like memory and cpu’s to newly created LPARs ??
