Hub Transport Role

Exclude Hub server except for role as SMTP AUTH Server?

We have a VM with Hub Transport role acting as SMTP AUTH server. How do we exclude this from the Exchange evironment but retain the role of SMTP AUTH Server? Thank you. Moderator Note: This is a submitted question.
