I recently replaced pc printers with some HP Officejet Pro 8500A. The printers are connected to the pc’s via the USB cable.  
The pc’s are running Windows XP.

When we do a local print screen in iSeries Access For Windows (v5.9), it can take up to 5 minutes for the printout to complete. Once the printout completes, the HP cycles through the cleaning of printheads and the checking of the printer. If I remove the use of the PDT’s (tried all of the ones I can find), the print speed is normal, but the output is very small – a printscreen will take up only the top left of the page.

Printing from Windows is fine.  This issue only happens with the combination of the iSeries and the 8500A’s.

My question is, has anyone else had any issues similar to this or with the same type of printer? And, is there a way around this?
