How can I retrieve an Excel file saved in Hotmail?

Hotmail saving attached documents
Hello!Can anybody tell me why when I save an attached document from a received hotmail.com e-mail it saves the document as internet explorer shortcut but not as proper document file?

Outlook 2007 with Error 80040201
Sending mail fails with a 80040201 error. Receiving mail (from Hotmail using POP3) works fine. By the way, password must be 16 characters or less. The Information Store Viewer utility (MDBVU32) does not show a Read Receipt waiting to be sent. Any other ideas?
