I had a situation recently where a laptop harddrive died completely.

We installed a new drive and reimaged it, but the drivers were missing off the standard os image, and I had to re-install the drivers for the onboard devices. (Biometric security etc) I had problems getting the drivers for the laptop, (1 year old) off the manufacturers website. No maintenance contract.

I started to think about the problems a dead HDD can cause, if they bought more of this laptop model.

I want to back up the backup ( D: ) drive on new laptops to a DVD disc, so we can revert the laptop to factory defaults when we dispose of it.

I know you can do system backups to DVD disc, and I wondered if any one else works this way, and if so, how others have solved the problem.

what happens if i don’t have lap top any longer(stolen) or vgcard failure, how can i access photos and applications. i have accessed photos via backup but photos can only be opened one at a time(opencloseopennew). is there a better way to access photos aka via slideshow.
what are the true differences between cloned and backupped hard drives?

To anyone’s knowledge, can an AS/400 68-pin SCSI 1GB hard drive be copied or “cloned” such that the new drive will boot up exactly the way the original did (i.e., like “Ghosting” a PC drive)? Is there any other way to deal with a drive that is experiencing random seek errors that prevent an AS/400 9402 FO2 system from reaching a log-in screen before erring out with 6104FFF4 in register 2. Thanks!
