There is an older computer (3 ghz processor, 512 MB RAM, Win XP Pro) that was getting sluggish, so I decided to give the user a newer model and reformat the hard drive of this old one. It will not reformat, ending the process with a message that blocks are bad and the disk may be damaged. Fair enough, I have several spare drives exactly like the older one. But now EVERY drive I install and try to reformat brings up a blue screen – “A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer……STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF7C1F28, 0XC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X0000000)
Any ideas what the problem is? Is there a resource that will allow me to decipher the error message?
Thanks
