Changing the run Priorty may make the job run a bit faster, are there any other parameters that can be used?

also am looking at more approaches like best coding practices for an RPG Programing as per performance say.

Certain code sections have a SETLL and a consecutive READE statement, (using the same key)will using a single CHAIN operation have a performance benefit.

Scenario:
We have a Word document that is our Facility Calendar.
The secretary updates it as requested with meetings, seminars, etc.

The problem:
When someone else has the document open, she cannot save changes she makes. She then has to email everyone and tell them to close the document.

Details:
We will not use Outlook or any other calendaring software. I tried, but Word is all they will use.

I have tried to save the file as an HTM file, and it works well as far as her being able to save changes, but it screws up the format of the calendar…(thanks MS)

We know we can mark it as ‘Read Only’ and then anytime we want to make modifications, change it back, and then mark as Read Only again. This is frustrating as she modifies it several times a day.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution?

thanks!

We are collapsing resource domains into our Production AD w2k forest. Some of these resource domains contain servers used to develop home grown applications/products. My reaction to this is that these servers require a seperate forest. When asked why I respond with: Should code being written and tested have a flaw that creates a loop which bangs away at DC/GC then this could creat a denial of service which would impact the production environment. Also, should any app under development require a schema change then this is best done in a isolated environment requiring a seperate forest. What I am looking for are other reasons to present to management that placing development systems in production is risky at best. Thank You.

I have three different USB to Serial converters, one of them an isolated converter from B&B. One brand of motion controller I work on uses EVEN parity / 7 data bits / 2 stop bits as its default. I find that none of my converters will work on the controller in this configuration.

If I borrow a PC with a fixed serial port and change the comm setup to use 1 stop bit, I can then connect using my USB converters.

What is there about the 2 stop bit setup that prevents my USB converters from working?
I acknowledge 2 stop bits is rare, but TRIO Motion Technology uses it as their standard default (don’t know why). This has meant that every time I’ve been called to work on one of them, I’ve had to borrow a laptop with a fixed port.

I’ve never attempted configuring my PC for E-7-1 while leaving the motion controller at E-7-2. I’ll try that the next time.

I’m curious as to why PC’s with fixed serial ports handle the 2 stop bits OK, but the USB ports don’t. Any idea?

Hi,

We have a requirement where in we have to generate reports on the web i.e. using I.E 6.x using Crystal Reports 11. The foll are the requirements.

1) Reports i.e. mainly graphs like Pie,Bar, Combo etc are to be created and displayed on the web.

2) The data would reside in Domino databases.

3) The end user should be able to select the type of chart at run time i.e. the end user should be able mention that display the selected data in Pie chart or Bar chart at the run time.

4) The reports/ report data should be able to be exported in Ms-Excel, Ms-Word and PDF file.

5) The web browser would be Internet Explorer 6.x or above.

6) The operating system would be Windows 2000 or 2003 or any other OS from Windows family.

Based on the above requirements, I have the following queries.

a) Are Lotus Domino R6.x, Crytal 11.x and Windows OS compatible with each other to display reports on I.E 6.x & above?

b) Can the type of chart i.e. Pie or Bar or Combo chart be specified at run time by the user? If yes what is the complexity to achieve this feature. Any material or link to get more info on this would be highly appreciated.

c) Can the report and report data be exported to Ms-Excel, Ms-Word and PDF file? Can the report displayed on I.E be easily copied and pasted in a Powerpoint file? If yes what is the complexity to achieve this feature. Any material or link to get more info on this would be highly appreciated.
