I am about to write a PTF exit program in CL. I have gone through the infocenter docuementation but some questions:

1. If I have 10 PTFs and that is already been loaded using LODPTF, how many times PTF exit programs will be called if I issue APYPTF? If it is 10 times then in which sequence? I mean which PTF will be resposible for the first call and so on.

2. What is meant by PRE-REMOVE TEMPORARILY, PRE-REMOVE TEMPORARILY, PRE-APPLY PERMANENTLY and PRE-REMOVE PERMANENTLY. Are there iSeries commands for those?

3. Infocenter mentioned about sending CPF3638 *ESCAPE message from exit program which will backout the changes. My question is who will take care about backing it out? If it is by system then ok but how to achieve this otherwise.

4. Does anyone have a table showing the combinations of Current PTF status and PTF operation and action to be taken?

Many thanks
Sudip

I have a piece of code that use TELNET to switch to another session on the same box to run another inquiry application with a different hardcoded userid.
The reason of that is to have this query application fully transparent to the user.

My problem is that the users do not allways take care of the fact that they are in TELNET in instead of using <ATTN> <99> <enter> to come back to the original session they initiate a brand new session login on twice.

In the past, we had two boxes and this function was run using STRPASTHR and terminated using ENDPASTHR, but now with TELNET, i do not find any exit command.

Is there a better way to do that ?

Thanks.

In addition to FTP Exit Programs, I have some additional questions that I was hoping someone could help me out with. They are as follows:

When this client is logged onto our AS400 (server) from a pc, he (she) will be limited to the following FTP commands; namely, sending files (PUT), and setting the directory. (CD)

I also have the need to not allow my client to get in thru TELNET or any other way for that matter. (Our AS400 needs to be locked down from the outside world, and so FTP is just one piece of the puzzle)

Do you happen to know of all the exit points that I need to be concerned about, which would ensure that my client is completely locked out of the AS400. In addition to exit points, is there another solution that you know of, that I may have overlooked, or that I should use in addition to the FTP exit programs, which would ensure that my AS400 is locked down from the outside world?

Please advise

   -Nick
