Can I receive Outlook invites without using Exchange Server?
Yes you should be able to receive thse. You said you received it to your email inbox, did you open and accept it? If so, did you get an error or no? If you got an error what was it?

Switching from Bulk-Logged to Simple Recovery Model on SQL Server 2000
NEVER delete the log file. Simply change the database from bulk logged to simple. Then you can shrink the log file down. If you log file is growing simply being doing log backups on it and it won’t grow out of control any more.

You can (after selecting the send as attachment) add this by selecting the INSERT tab, then Signature drop-down to one that is installed in your Outlook.
