• When Outlook is configured with Cached Exchange Mode?

When Outlook is configured with Cached Exchange Mode, is it viewing emails from the server? and when there's a disconnection, it reads from the .ost file? Or does it view emails from the .ost file and only communicates to the server to sync? Thanks.
