I think you have DNS set up wrong. Having an MX point to an IP isn’t RFC complaint so will cause delivery problems. Review your DNS setting making sure you have an A record (host) pointing to your external IP. Has the user been marked as hidden in Exchange? Can you see the user in other AD groups. It could simply be that the Outlook client has a cached version of the DL downloaded and you need to wait for Exchange to download an updated version.
