This is a new one for me. A customer reboots their system and is unable to access the domain. So we try to reconnect it to the domain thinking it fell off, but it does not work. Upon further investigation, I check the network settings and both the DNS static IP’s are missing, strange. I input them and reboot the computer, same thing happens. So I input the IP addresses and now I am able to access the domain. So, as long as the customer does not reboot the server, they are fine.
So, has anyone ever seen this and have an answer on how t fix it? Would appreciate the assist. Thanks.

What domain name do you use when you configure a Windows DNS server. I’ve always set them up with something like this: comapanyname.local

But I was reading some Microsoft documentation, and it said you need to use a sub-domain of a registered domain name. For instance, if you have the domain name companyname.com registered, when you configure DNS, you should use office.companyname.com as the domain name, not companyname.local or companyname.com

What do you guys typically do?
