Will defragmenting hard disks improve SQL Server performance?

Does it help to defragment the local hard disks on SQL Server to improve performance? I just started a new position and the drives on the servers are very fragmented. Could defragmenting them help boost some performance? Thanks.

disk degraded

My as400 is showing a status of 'degraded' when doing a 'wrkdsksts'. I would assume that one of the disk has failed but all say operational when using display hardware resources. Help!

Report from check disk on active NTFS partition

If I run check disk on the next system boot, I'd like to know if it found and fixed any problems. Does it generate a report, and where would I find it? Someone suggested the event log, but I may not know what I am looking for: a log, a report, a breif line item description?

IBM FC #4319 disk drives
