mystery space used on production box

we’ve saved our production box, and restore it to a Disaster Recover box. the amount of DASD used is about 450Gig less than our prod box. everything seems to have restored (files, programs, logicals, ifs files, etc). restore sys and non-sys… can’t figure out what the extra 400gig is on our prod box…? anyone have any ideas? no issues, just curious.

MiMix replication between Production and Disaster Recovery Server is very slow, what are the parameters that decide the rate of transfer of packets between these servers. Is at Network level or at MiMix settings.

Stand alone system being recovered to an LPAR

When we do a D/R recovery from our stand alone 820 to a an LPAR on 870 we get an error that the OS keys is invalid. Have been told that when we load the LPA there is a step that will eliminate this issues. Does any know hat it is?

Facility and disaster recovery

Our global company is interested in outsourcing the disaster recovery for our manufacturing facilities. For example, if there is a fire at a plant, we need a point person who is the expert at getting general contractor to get crews in to clean up debris, hire electricians to repair electrical, etc.

most Disaster Recovery articles that I’ve read seem to deal more with intellectual property and communications, than the actual manufacturing facility–which, if off-line can cost companies millions of dollars.

Do you know of any companies that provide this overarching service or do you know of a consultant who could advise us how to proceed?

What are some best practices for managing access rights during recovery situations. The question is particularly directed towards additional personnel or vendors that may need access to certain system functions, but only during a DR situation. How is that handled best?
