I’m working on a python cleanup script. I’m trying to determine the amount of files and total space prior to the cleanup. Also, want the total files and space of files that are deleted by the script. is os.path.getsize(filePath the way to go?

for example:

when i run my script it will give me the number of files to be deleted but i can’t get a starting count(files and size) or a count (files and size) after i run the delete. I’m wanting this so i can figure out how much space i’m saving by running the clean. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Hi, I am a EMC SAN Administrator planning to do one UNIX OS Certification and learn a scripting language. Should I do RHCE or SCSA as far as OS Certs are concerned. I know that a certification does not indicate good skill sets, still I feel it will help me as I dont have much Sys Admin skills. After Oracle buying SUN, would SCSA still hold a value?

As for scripting languages, not able to decide between Perl or Python. Some say Perl is dead and that Perl 6 will be a mess and things like that while some say Python isnt as good as Perl. Can someone suggest ?

I have a bunch of python scripts I’ve put together that cut down on busy work, but I’d like to be able to share them in an easier-to-use format for others to be used internally. The scripts aren’t accessing anything local, just open API’s across a couple web apps.

Ideally:

a) Users wouldn’t have to have a python compiler installed

b) They can be using Windows when running it.

c) It’s simple enough they can just click something, and it will work.

I’ve tried some of the Windows Python executable compilers, but none have really worked well and I was considering just uploading it to a webserver and putting up some basic password access protection around it

Any suggestions for sharing scripts?
