Hello all, I am in the process of planning for a future exchange 2010 deployment and was wondering what would the best hardware specs be. It’s looking like I will have 6 servers: 2 CAS/HT servers and 4 mailbox servers with DAG. 1 CAS/HT server with failover to the 2nd CAS/HT, 1 active mailbox server with DAG replication to 2nd passive mailbox server and 3rd active mailbox server with DAG replication to 4th passive mailbox server. We have about 400 mailboxes and around 200 activesync connections. We use outlook 2007 and we have around 2TB of mailbox databases. 1 location, single site, single AD forest. I am needing to know whats the best CPU/RAM/HD specs I will need for each of the 6 servers/roles I will have in place. Any help is greatly appreicated!! Thank you.

Hello all, this is my first post and to be honest, it doesn’t really seem like this is the ideal forum to ask such a question, however I can’t find a more relevent forum. Therefore if this is deemed inappropriate for this forum please accept my apologies in advance. Can anyone help me on how to: 1) Take a commerical program which has been developed and published by a third party, and modify the .CAB files so as to add and /or delete some database files. I have been commissioned to make these changes to the database on behalf of the end user/s, however I am trying to re-burn a new CD with my updated databases (Access Databases) rather than the originals. I also want to delete a couple of surpurflous databases which are packed with the original installation CAB file as my end user does not need them. At the end of the the day I am trying to create a CD which will give my end users the ability to simply install the software from 1 CD and be up to date with all of the updated (and none of the surpurfluous) database files. My end users are generally at the low end of the PC user food chain so to ask them to install the program, delete the surpurflous files, insert my updated files etc is a little out of their capacity. Can anyone help me please.

Hi everyone, I’m brand new here. Bear with me as I try to explain my issue as clearly as possible…

My organization is deploying Citrix to around 600 off-domain Wyse thin clients running XP. I am hoping to automate this transition as much as possible, but there are several roadblocks with these devices. A little background on me: I am quite comfortable with batch/command line scripting, not with VBScript however.

The Wyse will auto-logon to Citrix (no end-user interaction at all). The computer name and the Citrix username will be the same, but the Windows username is different and generic (no NT pass-through credentials).

In order to enable auto-logon (without someone logging in for the first time on each device), I need to edit a registry value that is in binary form, essentially converting the %computername% (which will be the Citrix username) to hex form and inserting this into a section of the registry value (which contains even more information), replacing the default values.

To simplify:

Is there a command line method to convert the %computername% to a hex value?

If VBScript is required, what method can I use to convert the %computername% to hex, and then replace a portion of the registry value (not the entire value, as it contains other necessary data) with this hex data?

Finally, has anyone else dealt with a similar Citrix deployment?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.
