Hi All,

I am trying to understand about cloning the sysres volume of our z/os 1.12. Our environment is basically a Z9 machine with 1 cpc with only two LPAR images created with no coupling facility(Monoplex).

To clone a sysres volume we are required to peform a indirect cataloging and clone your source sysres to target sysres volume using DFDSMSdss.

Here I have some questions before I Start up with cloning process

1) Here in our shop there are no IEASYMxx member in any of the Parmlib member. Is it something I need to code manually ?

2) I believe there are only two pparmlib members where I have to specify the sysres volumes i.e.. VATLSTxx and COMMANDxx. Just would like to if there are anyother parmlib member that I need to specify the SYSRES volume information ?

3) Are there any Sample JCL which performs indirect cataloging ?

Please advise me. Apology in advance if my questions are not really sensible.

Hello, I have a question related to ‘expired or deleted RACF accounts that are still active in DB2′. In our shop, with z/OS as the operating system and RACF as a security tool. While DB2 native security is used to manage access for each of the DB2 objects such as database, table, view, or storage group, RACF is used to manage user accounts and such things as authentication. Quesition: There is an audit report nothing that there are serveral orphaned user accounts (expired or deleted) with permissions and privileges to different DB2 objects within DB2. Does it constitute a Medium or High risk? If so, what are the vulnerabilities associated with it? If not, does it ONLY represent a cleanup issue where by user account with expired status in RACF or deleted from RACF should also be removed from DB2?

Thanks.

I’ve got several situations where I’d like a program (e.g. a batch program) to be able to write a message in another job’s job log (e.g. to a CICS region saying “I’ve just set application ABC into overnight mode” or some such).

I don’t recall seeing this feature anywhere and have been through the Assembler macros manual and JES2 macros, as well as doing a bit of general forum searching, and haven’t been able to find anything yet. The authorized form of the WTO macro does allow JOBNAME and JOBID parameters but these seem to be simply for message identification as far as I can tell, not for actual routing to another address space’s job log.

Does anyone have any idea if this is possible? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

When I import a DB2 z/OS query result containing date or date(timestamp) columns from QMF for WINDOWS in EXCEL 2003 using the Add-in the cells cannot be formatted. In the same column the date are displayed sometimes as dd/mm/yyyy, sometimes as nnnnn or in the previously defined format (example dd-month ) if exists. The first format can’t be modified, unless double cliking the cell without updating, the
wrong cells are contiguous and occasionally there are blocks of
contiguous cells with the correct format, for example on the same day. The same report loaded in excel using the QMF function “Display Excel Sheet (ctrl + B )” works properly. Everything is correct with QMF for W 8.1 FP10.

Thanks in advance !
