SYSVOL Sharing across network concern
Yes SYSVOL needs to be shared. Essentially it holds any logon scripts, or Group Policies defined for the domain, and needs to be accessible by logon process on client PC’s. It is reasonably well protected, as long as you don’t try and change default permissions on it. If you don’t use Group Policies, or logon [...]

Damaged File In Save Operations
I could only find three references to this file — they all dealt with having a secondary language installed (and doing an upgrade) or installing a secondary langauge. If you’ve got a SupportLine contract, I would open a PMR with IBM. They should be able to guide you through recovering the file.

Not sure about the model information. We did this on a 720 – straight from V5R1 to V5R3. No real problems at all. We ended up with some application issues, but they were specific to our ERP. Otherwise the upgrade was quite smooth. We even did it in house ourselves (this is our development box). [...]

The company I work for will NOT send us on formal IT training – why, because it keeps you in the company and you become less favourable at interviews. The biggest disadvantage of less training. Experience doesn’t seem to count for much these days.

It’s always been goofy, a recall using a reg hack but since the users are TS users, they should be able to shutdown by default. did you create a test dummy account and verify? You should get an error message.
