MS Open Licenses.
Open licenses have some qualifications you need to meet. It also has different levels of discount – the deeper the discount is, the harder to qualify. Unlike retail licenses, you’ll have to register with Microsoft online to use Open licenses (to get the actual keys, for example) – that’s the “email” part I guess.

Connecting remote drives in Terminal Services
There shouldn’t be a slow connection unless your DNS is not setup properly or your client is not registered in DNS. I doubt that its’s a NetBIOS issue, but that’s a poosibility.

VLANs
We’re missing a lot of info here – how did you create the VLAN’s? What platform? Do you have a router to connect them? Do you require ONLY one person to have access to all 5 (much trickier)?

Hmmm… I’m not sure if this will work due to the nature of Word, but try this: 1) Put the calendar document in its own directory 2) Make all the calendar users (read only folks) members of a Calendar Reader group 3) Make the secretary who maintains the calendar the sole member of a Calendar [...]

Local LAN Vulnerabilities and Open Ports NAT
Using a NAT and CHAPv2 is a good start, but a proper firewall (not the MS Firewall, a real one) and IDS is necessary for optimal security. I have no recommendation for anything in the MS camp for this level of security, as I would not recommend anything less than Snort, a Linux-only IDS that [...]

Reinstall windows 98 can’t find cd rom drive
Your CD-ROM may require a seperate driver to be loaded. It might be loading using a generatic one on either a bootable CD or bootdisk to load Windows 98, but require a driver for W98 once your OS is loaded. Upgrading to XP would probably solve this. but would cost you $ as well. Look [...]

LAN vulnerability behind a Router – with firewall – connected to the Ineternet (Through an Open Port!)
I can’t answer the question but I’m definately curious about how someone would go about exploiting a vulnerability within a LAN sitting behind a router running NAT/NAPT…where would you start? Routing Tables? Hacking the modem? I have 1 XP SP2 Machine running providing PPTP VPN connections and a Webcam Security System (webcamxp) Forwarded Ports 1723,gre,7 [...]

Well I would have to assume you are over Taxing the Threads of the Processor. If I was setting this up I would not have a Virtual Machine Handling Virtual Machines for Citrix. Possible Networking Issue
The information you provided really isn’t enough to track down the problem. What kind of switches are you using? What is the distance to the switch? Now that most installations are 100Mbit or even 1Gbit, length limitations are more critical than they were with 10Mgit networks. Is the problem consistent or intermittent? Are you sure [...]
