SQL Express 2005 query times lagging

I execute some simple queries on my own system’s sql server express 2005, the executions time is under 1 second but when I execut the same queries on our server’s sql server express 2005, the queries execution time is about 3 seconds or more and I don’t know why. both of the systems have the same OS (win 2003 server), but our server have 1Gig ram and my system have 2 Gig.
This difference in RAM can be the major reason for query response time?
Please help me in this case if you know the reason.

Cobol uses some kind od IKJ module user exit to allow DB2 SQL calls. I want to make a keyed read update one field and go on to the next record and do the same until end of file. Can do the same using RPG and if so could give me an idea what the code would like. How would the updated file be reference? Thanks

Below is a list of the query that I am working on. There are part numbers that may be match to more than one module number. What I need is to show only the part numbers for the list. These part numbers I need a list of only one part number for each group.

PartNo—— Module—— Numbers

79000123– QWST123——-1

79000123– ORTY123——- 1

79000023— RTY0023——-1

I need a result that would look like

PartNo———- Module—— Numbers

79000123—- QWST123——-2—— (it is just counting the pn column) 79000023—–RTY0023——–1

Could you give me a general statement that would just count the part numbers in the PartNo column and show the number of duplications, disregarding the Module numbers?

The first time I ran the query, it took 7 seconds; the next time it took half a second.

Why did this happen? How can I make the query run faster the first time around?

I want to select a row from the parent table based on whether there are two or more rows in a child table. What is the best way to do that?
