I've been working on a RSS reader application and I'm looking at several different back end databases to use. I need the database to be embedded because I don't want the users to install a database server. I'm between SQLite and MongoDB. Which one is the better choice?

  • How many rows are too much in a MySQL database?

We have a MySQL InnoDB that has over a million records. Is that too much to hold? Can my database handle that many records? We're curious because some of our queries are slower with a table that has 1,000,000 rows than one with 100 rows.

We're using Sinatra software and we've noticed that it doesn't provide an ORM (unlike Ruby on Rails). So we're trying to figure out how to actually talk to the database in a Sinatra app. Or is it only for apps that don't use a database? Thank you.
