Unable to send files using Msn messenger
Knowing that file transfer using any IM/Messenger system is VERY dangerous, ISP and network management have been adding filters, firewalls, and blocks to protect everyone for malicious attachments. It used to work and now it doesn’t. “Contact your ISP or System Administrator.” Yes there is a new filter in your connection. Executables (.exe or .bat [...]

reusedlt *yes
V5R3 PTF MF34478 has something to do with reuse of deleted records. Actually, PTF MF34836 is the latest supercede PTF. It has a lot of co-reqs, so I would install the latest HIPER PTF package (SF99529)along with the Database group package (SF99503)and of course, the Cumulative PTF Package of SF99530. Good luck!

ping from outside
Really it is not a command what you need. You need to create appropriate access lists. All access lists have an implicit deny at the end, which implies that anything not explicitly allowed is forbidden. For ping you have to deny icmp protocol packets of type echo-request (8) that enter through your interfaces. This will [...]

Data vs. perimeter vs. network security
Ah! A subject near and dear to my heart. Since this is likely to be lengthy, I’ll reply on separate occasions for each general subject. First of all, perimeters get porous only partially because of business demands. What is more common is that few organizations have a formal firewall exception and review policy – and/or [...]

Inserting data into a vargraphic data type field
You’ll need to use the vargraphic() function – insert into test_table values (vargraphic(‘TEST’, 4)); This should convert your text to something the vargraphic column can accept. Next time report the error you receive, as it’s impossible to read minds. David Fitzjarrell

Simple: there is no such thing as an invulnerable system. I wish there were one too.
