I created a table and form for data, which includes a latitude and longitude field. Lat and Long date will be entered as degrees decimal. The lat/long data will be used for mapping purposes (exported to a GIS). For proper mapping, the longitude data must be negative. I don’t want to rely on the user to remember to put a negative sign in front of their longitude data at the time of input. Is there a way that I can set up the field to automatically put a negative sign in front of the longitude value, if the user forgets to do it? Basically, I want to make sure that all data in the longitude field starts with a negative sign.

Hello all .. I am doing an Internship with a company in Nashville that does community branding. Recently I received a project to design a database which would house all of the information that we would need to show to potential clients to gain their business. Such as particular information about different years growth statistics before and after working with our company. They have requested that the database be easily updatable and produce good reports. I was wondering if I need a database at all? Also which database would be the best for handling a project like this?

I’m new to using large data types (varchar(max))and after reading an article (Using MAX data types in SQL Server) I have a few questions.
I am trying to understand how you insert such a long string (up to 2 billion char) in the database table? I am assuming this would include storing Word Documents, etc. in the data base. If this is true, what is the method used to store the document in the data base? What is the max length of the Command String that is submitted to SQL Server?
