What would it take for you to jump into cloud computing?
does data’s “mission critical” status give you pause in moving over? – Absolutely. But that said, moving to the cloud is not simply a technical decision. Its a business decision. Technically, the move to the cloud is easy. Pick a fairly reliable vendor, put in SLA requirements and test out the functionality and off you [...]

Will cloud applications be certified by IT audit? What kind of applications can we safely offload to the cloud?
This whole “cloud computing” thing has been completely blown out of proportion. By and large, security risks that exist outside the “cloud” are the very same inside the cloud. The big difference that management – and the lawyers – like is the fact that the risk can now be pushed onto someone else. Here are [...]

How do you think Cloud Computing solutions (Amazon Web Services, Google App Engine) will change the life of software developers?
Life of a software engineer in one perspective when he is working for an organization, and this organization opts for the cloud computing as a servicer, will remain unchanged. Organization will opt for servers, storage, backup, application maintenance, OS, Server software, security, data replication etc. as outsourced to a company offering cloud computing services. What is the future of cloud computing?
Unfortunately for this one, the answer is up in the clouds. To me, cloud computing is a privacy issue. I can’t help but think that as soon as everything gets up into the cloud, it’s going to be indexed and searched by the government, or various other organizations for that matter. It’s a principle of [...]

Is there any information available about creating an `internal cloud` based on Hyper-V?
There is nothing specific on cloud but Hyper-V can be a part of an integrated internal cloud, with services and control with products like the SCVMM self-service portal.

How will Microsoft’s upcoming cloud computing technology benefit hyper-v users?
For the Azure cloud computing platform, we have committed to allow the running of Hyper-V systems on that platform, allowing the transfer of those VMs.

What are best practices for selling Software as a Service (SaaS)?
SaaS is for the most part, still a big bet if you will, so I think that we are getting a little ahead of ourselves in thinking that there are “best practices” for its monetiziation. I do think that the ideas presented in the article make sense. The truth is that these principles have been [...]
