Compliance for Video Conferencing
It all depends upon your industry and what compliance regs affect you. If you are in US and in financial services or healtcare then yes there likely are compliance issues to address. Sell shoes, probably not. US traded public company? probably as well.

Educating database users
Hello Robyn, Just to clarify, the finger pointing is not always directed at just database admins, but at all members of the IT group, helpdesk right up to the programmers. And when that single digit points my way? Well I remind those users that they are welcome to fix it themselves @#!*! Or at least [...]

Mandatory Roaming Profile Missing
Hello, Try locating the ntuser.dat hidden file (documents and settingsprofile_name) on the local machine and renaming it to ntuser.man. If you store this profile on a server then the only way it will work is if the laptop is on the network and has access to the stored file. Good luck!

Highlighted sorting column in Windows
Custom color scheme – problems with selected columns in explorer (Windows explorer not Internet explorer). Finish customizing your scheme. You have contrast problems because the selected (highlighted) background is the same color/shade as the text. When you go into ‘Display Properties’ on the ‘Apearance’ tab there are multiple selections and choices. Choose the selected block [...]

group membership in registry
1st advice: Don’t try it. Speaking as one who has had to rebuild systems many times after getting adventurous with my registry editing (but on my machines, not my customer’s) you may well be able to do it, but your description alone sounds like a production business system, and you may be setting yourself up [...]

Windows Server 2003 Terminal services
Hi, there. Will these three users be concurrent? If not you don’t need to worry about licensing – you can use the remote administration functionality. If they are, then you’ll need to set up licensing as well. Depending how you’ve licensed your users (user or device CALs), you may need to obtain Windows CALs and [...]

Print Numbers in words
Although it’s entirely possible, build a function to do it. Here’s an example function written for DB2 in C: Define TO_WORDS(DECIMAL(11,2)) RETURNS VARCHAR as an external function named to_words. Here’s the C definition: void to_words(char *result, _Decimal(11,2) *arg, short *outNull, short *inNull) { _Decimal(11,2) value = *arg; // Hold local copy *result = 0; // [...]
