I have 34 years of IT experience and has been retrenched a few months ago. As you can imagine it is hard to find new employment at my age. I mostly worked in a development environment, but lately only did Account Management. I spent a short time doing maintenance on a system, which confirmed that programming is basically like riding a bike. You never lose that skills. I have been invited for an interview for a position as team leader. Although I know the development tools well, I have not been part of the later methodologies as far as SDLC is concerned. Used to do a Requirements spec, Functional spec, Technical Spec and the development, testing, user documentation and maintenance afterwards. I have been reading quite a bit about the technologies and my assumption is that it does not really differ from what I am used to do. Am I right in that regard? Also, I think my response to questions during the interview will be to focus on what the company is currently using as a methodology and base my answers on the fact that I need to first have to analyse what they are doing and adapt myself to that. Any suggestions?

Do you agree or disagree that the IT jobs by 2009 are going to decrease drastically. If you think the answer is ‘yes’, what is the basis of your opinion? And if you think the answer is ‘no’, why do you think so?
