This is the real commercial problem face by my company. Well, the reason I ask this problem is I salute and respect all of you as I believe all of you are as good as network solution company out there, or even better!!

Lets me rephrase the entire problem again.

Company expand so fast that the IT infrastructure is not fast enough to cater high volume of traffic; the initial design is not scalable. The number of new branch offices setup caused the company pay a high price in the leased line communication.
Salesman and management staffs dial into company networks via 56K modem to access the database server and update the sale order. All the branch offices access the internet via HQ and download email via the external POP3 email server.
Plan to revamp their IT infrastructure and reduce the leased line access cost. Here are some of the feedbacks consolidated from the various country managers and local salesman.
1) The email downloading and sending is very slow. They receive a lot of spam email this caused their individual mailbox quota use up very fast.
2) The sales and marketing departments need to access the internet to search for latest news and market trends. But the internet speed is very slow. These people are irritated by spywares and popup often.
3) The File transfer and Database access is very slow even in the local area networks.

I decided to put the real network cum equipment diagram of my current company as I believe this will at least give INSIGHT in solving the problem.

Please visit the website http://www.hgym.photosite.com
for the diagrams which are network diagram and equipment diagram.

Now I plan to improve the IT infrastructure to cater for future expansion up to 10 countries. SAP will be implement to automate the overall company operation. Also expect 3rd party to access their server to submit and view sale order.

I also plan to redesign the network so that it is high available, scalable and secure.

Any suggestion and opinion? What is your comment after looking at my network and its insfrastructure (from the diagrams on http://www.hgym.photosite.com )
Any improving needed?

My email is hunkgym@yahoo.com Of course you can reply here, preferable :>

Thanks again for your opinion!! Thank You!!

My company has about 1,000 customers/offices that we support. I’m working on a project and need to keep track of my contacts at each office. I first need to put all of the offices I contact into one large group. Each office is different. Some have one contact. Some have a few. So I need to put each email address under their office then put all of the offices under one main group. Does anyone know how to do this? Is it possible w/Outlook. I know how to create a single group/list. But can’t figure out how to create a group/list under another group/list….

Encouraged by the helpful responses to the recent question about mailbox quotas I?d like to pose a related question: What size limits to you impose on inbound/outbound SMTP messages?

BACKGROUND: We have 40,000+ email users in an Exchange network spanning 160+ locations around the world. Currently we limit SMTP email sizes (both in and out) to 2 MB, with plans to increase this limit to 5 MB as we upgrade to Exchange 2003.

CHALLENGE: Key user groups with legitimate business requirements are asking for size limits to be raised to 10, 25 and even 50 MB. In most cases they need to trade very large documents with regulatory bodies that (because they can!) refuse to learn how to spell ?FTP?. My concern is that bumping the size limit could place undue strain on perimeter filtering (i.e., virus/spam etc.), MTA and message store resources.

I?m looking for two things:

(1) An indication of best practice in this area: What limits are others enforcing?
(2) Alternative solutions in use, such as relying on an externally-hosted service for those with huge size requirements (e.g., with direct POP3 or Web mail access).

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

How do I create a network design for a large business? The following is the scenario and the requirements, I need so help please.

An Ice Cream Factory with 5 stores, citywide and has connectivity to the corporate office in Austin. Each store is responsible for maintaining its inventory locally, but must communicate with the warehouse on a weekly basis to keep inventory current and stocked. Each store has a Manager?s office, Administrative Assistant?s office, and an employee lounge/conference room. The only wireless capability in each store is for the customers? convenience while they are visiting the ice cream shop. The creamery factory and warehouse is located in Round Rock, a small town near Austin. Each week, all employees are required to attend a videoconference at the local stores on Monday afternoon. This is a national chain that spans the continental US. The country is divided into regions; Northeast, Southeast, Central, Northwest, and Southwest. Your potential network is located in the Central area of the country and must have connectivity to the other regions. The Regional Office is located in Brenham, the home of the original factory. Customers worldwide are allowed to place orders for ice cream over the Internet. All online orders are processed through the Regional Offices.

Design a network for implementation. You will need to decide what type of WAN connection will be best for your network. Also, you will be responsible for the purchase of All Equipment And Cabling for all of the locations of the network. You will need to design the Network Topology, physical and logical; determine all of the network and computing equipment, cabling, data transmission method, type of network, and any other items required to design the best possible network for your client.
