JSD extension
Go to a site called filext.com and type in the extension. It will give you a description of the file and what programs to use to open it. Hopefully, you will have one of these programs and it is useable on an iMac.

You may have to descend to packet examination. View packet contents to determine whether they are encrypted or not. While not all VPNs use encryption, it is a good indicator that a VPN is being used if packets are encrypted. But this is a four year old question. What answer did you settle upon?
