Professional certification versus a postgraduate degree in telecommunications

I’ve just completed an IT degree, but I’m keen on starting a career in telecommunications. I now need to decide whether to go for a postgraduate program in telecom or to take professional telecom certification exams.

My concern right now is time; I’m getting on the late side of thirties and I’m quite worried about my employability.

How much technical knowledge is needed to manage my LAN/WAN team?

I am currently a Service Desk manager. I may be taking on a new role (which I asked for) as IT Manager that is not only in charge of the Service Desk but also the LAN/WAN. As a manager, how much technical knowledge is needed to manage the LAN/WAN portion of the team? Can I get by for a while relying on my techs?

I studied IT two years ago. After I couldn’t get an IT job I had to settle as a manager to a pizza shop. This job is satisfying, but I’m currently studying for an A+ certification. Do you think there’s still hope for me? And do you have any tips for passing the A+ and N+ (Network+) exams?

Hi,

I am currently having a experience of around 3 years of software development and support.
Currently I am working for a banking company.
I want to do an MBA program.
I want to stay in IT.
What should i do? should I go for MBA programme (part time) or some other professional course.
If i want to do MBA then which stream should i go in MBA?
