SQL embedded in RPGLE
You wll want to create SQL indexes on each file based on the where field(s) I believe that you can run these interactively in Navigator and capture the necessary indexes. With the correct indexes your SQL commands will find the record to update very much like a chain would. Phil

conversion from FileMaker Pro to Microsoft Access database
Well first off the previous answer was correct in that Access cannot read FileMaker files. Unless you have some very specific need to down grade the capability you probably should not be converting to Access, instead use the greater capability of FileMaker which goes beyond Access. That being said, if you really do have some [...]

Delete OLD files from Table not having date or timestamp
I’m not aware of any method that automagically keeps track of that information. If you do not see a field(s) that relates to a create Date/Time stamp, then have a problem. Are you journaling the file? That would keep track of changes made to the file. Use DSPFD and search for ‘jour’. <pre> File is [...]

Suppress duplicate subreport data
If I’m following the question correctly… I do not believe that you can share values between subreports. You could set up shared variables in the main report, which has the values from each of the subreports, and then test those two variables against each other in the main report.

Encryption by Law? If so, what strength or type?
As with any law, it should start with a basic level and then permit restrictions above the level specified. So, the law could say 1024-bit encryption or better. Kind of like the states can make more restrictive laws than the federal gov’t but the states must meet minimum criteria.

Have you examined NIST guidelines? You may take a look at http://csrc.nist.gov/ Data encryption rules, regulations, guidelines varies by state to state. In some states if the sensitive data is encrypted (does not matter the key length/strength) it is OK. Please elaborate a bit more and the context?
