My blackberry can’t open even when I open it to write. To me, that it is an error and I must push the bottom of reset and when I push it to open again, the same problem occurs. Is it the software?

Mobile email retrieval and storage on BlackBerry
I have a blackberry curve, and the email setting for how long emails stay on the phone is 30 days. Is there anyway at all to retrieve emails from longer than 30 days ago? It is extremely important. If I have to take the phone to a store or expert, I will. Please help!!!
