Will the big data market continue at this explosive pace?
Like NCs, SANs, virtualization, tablets, cloud, BYOD and all the other overhyped technologies du jour (thanks to the vendors and analysts), “big data” will eventually level off and just fit in with the rest of the normal stuff we see and use every day.

What’s the best way to deal with using personal data?
This is the age-old security dilemma and it’s addressed through the following steps: Know what you’ve got Understand how it’s at risk Do something about it Many (most) businesses have no real clue what information is where – especially when it comes to mobile – much less how it’s currently exposed. You cannot possibly secure [...]

Are you surprised by the switch from second to third platform technologies?
It’s funny, I’ve never even heard of “third platform”. I’m not surprised by the numbers though. These technologies are all the rage. I suspect the reasoning behind PC and Ethernet stagnation is that many businesses already have that infrastructure in place and, perhaps, they’re not spending additional money on new technologies. But who really knows? [...]

Does your company invest in social media analytics?
I see many organizations that do not. From an IT and security perspective this could be a bad idea. There’s a lot of positives that can come from social media in terms of marketing and competitive advantage, but also a lot of negatives in terms of information risk.

What big data trends do you see emerging in 2013?
I’m seeing lots of buzz/hype but not a lot of substance around big data just yet. Maybe it’s because I haven’t taken the time to read up on it like I should be. I’m always skeptical of marketing buzzwords (cloud, BYOD…remember the ‘NC’ from the mid 1990s?) I do know that big data is going [...]

When you do a Save As option, you name it, just below it, it should give you a drop down menu for the different types of format that you can save it in, such as older versions of the program.

Trying to find an adequate backup solution
You may want to consider investing in a professional backup storage system. I work for the government and we use NetApp. They have some videos on You Tube, and a channel, that you may be interested in viewing and see if it is what you are looking for. Good luck in your decision.
