We do have a 10 MB internet connectivity, the speed is ok, I am monitoring the link using cacti and netflow. ISP—-10 MB Link——-Cisco 3745 Router—-Switch —-Firewall 525—-DMZ Switch- ISA—- LAN Our bandwidth is under utilized, hence our average consumption is around 5 MB, half of our allocated bandwidth is not consumed. Our management thinks [...]
We are a small organization (15+/- full time employees). We currently have a T-1 line, no VPN. Last week, we experienced 100% usage of our T-1 line – first time ever. I’ve explored every alternative including bonded T-1, ADSL, SDSL, Ethernet (10 Mbps up and down). The Ethernet solution would be great but is costly [...]

We have a T1 that was overcrowded by streaming radios, videos youtube, etc. as soon as we installed a fancy new 3Com Baseline Plus Switch with QoS. It was giving higher priority on the parasyte traffic (video/radio) than the legit (http/ftp). We also have a couple of IP Phones that we hardly use. Is there a [...]
We recently installed a fancy new 3com switch (with QoS) in the center of a star topology of dumb switches. About the same time our internet connection was brought to a screeching halt. We figured out the online radios and video streams from you tube and others killed our T1 because of QoS. I’ve disabled [...]
Is it possible to use BGP4 to aggregate the total available bandwidth into one virtual pipe? Example can I take two 3 meg independent internet connections and make a burstable 6 meg pipe?
