• What’s the best method for PostgreSQL incremental backup?

We've been using pg_dump piped to gzip to split for PostgreSQL backups. But here's the problem: All of the output files are always changed (so basically the checksum-backup copies all of the data). Is there any other way to perform an incremental backup of a PostgreSQL database?

What would be the best backup option for us in SQL Server 2008 Express? Our first thought was to do a replication on another computer / take Xcopy backups of the server but it's not available in Express. There can be no downtime either. What should we do?

  • How to do MySQL backups on a budget

Our MySQL backup strategy is to replicate our database to a second server and then run mysqldump on that server to get rid of any downtime from table locking. It's working great but the cost is huge (Over $150 per month on that second server). Anyone know of another way to do MySQL backups cheaper?...

  • Should we use Duplicity as our backup strategy?

Several clients have come to us to work on a few backup strategies. We've been leaning towards duplicity for the remote backup but we have a few questions that need answering. Is it really reasonable to do a full backup every so often? And is duplicity efficient enough to do a full backup?
