Problem to generate back ups in compressed format

We have an IBM Ultrium LT04 included in RHEL5 LPAR (IBM System i520) where we have the following problem: We can not generate back ups in compressed format (1.6 TB), we are only able to generate in the normal format (800 GB). Just in casa our back ups are processed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 5.4. We would like to know what we need to obtain back ups in compressed format

Backup other networked servers to internal iSeries LTO4 Drive

Is anyone backing up other networked servers to their iSeries tape drive? How are you doing this and what software are you using. I would like to stay with IBM iSeries software if possible.

How to backup all the shared folders from NAS storage to tape drive?

I have one NAS storage in my LAN network. It is UNIX os & it is on the Workgroup not domain.

I created for each employee his own folder on the storage to backup his critical files. I have more than 500 employees in my company.

Currentlly, I bought one server (Windows 2003 ) with LTO4 tape drive.

I want to backup all the shared folder from the NAS storage to tape drive using the windows backup tool.

I can’t see my NAS storage in the Network Places.

I can backup the shared folders if I could mapped them.

Int the Start -> Run
\\backupstorage ( I can see all the 500 folders )

How can I map all the folders inside \\backupstorage without doing it one by one.

Is there any script for that or any freeware tool ???????????????

So, in other words, if I have a file server ( server name :- filesrv) with 100 shared folders. This server under a workgroup not a domain

I want to backup all the folders that I can see when I type in the Start -> RUN

\\filesrv

also, I want to use map drive utility to create network drive ( \\filesrv ) . Windows will allow me to map \\filesrv . It will ask me to choose a folder like (\\ filesrv\ Tom).

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help me.

iSeries backup encryption on LT04?

Hi,
We are looking to encrypt our backups and having looked about it appears that using a fibre attached LT04 in the tape library where the encryption is done at hardware level would be the best /cheapest option. It is the best option for us as it also says that no software is required, however upon reading more about it i’m reading that BRMS is required for it to work, this is software ! Not only that but BRMS does not come with a license for Encryption, you have to buy that seperately which for a P20 is $18000. So the questions are do you NEED BRMS and if so do you also need that specific licensed program or just base BRMS? Thanks for any help,
