How can i release the lock on a AS/400 file

Users mapping a network drive to the iSeries getting disabled all too often

AS/400 User Profile Disabling
Two weekends ago I upgraded our i520 from OS V5R3M0 to V5R4M0 and ever since we have had problems with user profiles becoming disabled. These are not because of incorrect password either, as many users are ones who use the system daily and have had no previouse issues with passwords.

how do i find a program which is a backdoor which allows user to change his authority to qsecofr or *secadm? We have changed his profile and he keeps changing it back. And yes we have changed the security officer password numerous times.

IS IOSYSCONFIG required to perform VARY ON/OFF devices, ctl's, linds
Hi - I am being told that IOSYSCONFIG special authority is required for our Operators profiles in order for them to perform VARY ON printers, LIND's, DEV's, etc... Can anyone confirm or deny, I doubt this to be the case but have no environment to test currently. Thx - G7

I'm being asked to change our QSURITY level from 20 to 30. I do not have much iSeries OS background. What are the major issues with changing this level to 30? Is there any object level access changes that I need to be aware of? Can this be done with relatively little impact on the users?
