Hello,

I am trying to determine if our current power infrastructure is capable of providing the required power for an BladeSystem c7000. the goal is to migrate several of our older servers that are coming off of lease to the blade using vmware’s p2v (physical to virtual) tool.

Our current power infrastructure consists of an APC Symmetra PX UPS. The UPS is a 208V 20kW system. Are current load is at 63%.

Is there an easy way to calculate whether or not we would be able to provide power to the blade and all of our current hardware during the p2v process ?

Any insight would be greatly appreciate. And please let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks !

We are planning to build a 3500 sq foot data center. One of the options we’re looking at is building out the data center in 3 stages, using APC modular UPS and Liebert modular cooling (in addition to the usual CRAC).

We’re not concerned about the modular cooling, as we know we’ll need to due the high denisty of many of the racks that will be in this data centre.

The concern from my techncial team is about using APC’s modular UPS solution (80 kw each) rather than a traditional 2X500 Kw Liebert UPS design.

Does anyone have any experience with the newer modular UPS implementations?
