I want to develop a TSQL query. First I need to determine if all the numbers in one of the fields are in numerical order and also find the missing holes in the number sequence. Secondly I need to sort by another field and by a particular criteria.  The words that I need to sort-by would be different makes and models of cars that would not necessary be at a give position in the cell: the criteria may be found in different position within one of the cells yet may be in different cell within the same rows. So the end result would need to show all the numbers in sequential order. Any place there is a brake in the sequential number or there is a hole or a missing number a blank would be inserted or some kind of indicator. Also all the numbers sequences would need to be grouped by different vehicles makes and modules.  They may be randomly located with in three different columns but would be in the same rows.

Software/Hardware used:
MSXP,Professional,Vers2002,SP3.and iSeries AS400

There are part numbers that are assigned in the AS400 system. What I need to do is to be able to pull all the part numbers out of the system via pass-through query with Access and group them by a different criteria ( which would be in a same row as that of the part number. I know that I will have well into the 100,000s of numbers. So I need to know where the holes are in the part numbering system. I need to know the number at the beginning of the hole and at the end of the hole, and the number of possible entries that would go in between each.

    The query looks like this; SELECT MSPMP100.PRDNO, MSPMP100.CLASS, MSPMP100.DESCP, MSPMP100.ACTIV FROM CARF1.MSPMP100 MSPMP100 Where MSPMP100.CLASS= '72'
