ad hoc computer to computer software for windows, can it really extract data from my mac by a entity, using as a location marker the laptops antenna and serial numbers. I've heard of NT users having this capability using a wifi neighborhood signal detector

I didn’t understand exactly your question but I guess you’re talking about WIFI sniffing/caprtuing…yes this can be done and there are several tools to allow you doing this. Knowing the mac-address (probably what you define as “serial number”) makes this easier.

If you are asking is it possible to hack into someone's laptop through their wifi connection and to be able to extract information the simple answer is yes. This is what's known as a man in the middle attack in some case and others it can be just simply a straight data farm from your PC. There are many hacking tools out there on the web and available for download. While I DO NOT condone nor do I agree with the use of such tools for malicious behavior, these tools can be of great benefit to a network or system admin for testing purposes. to find any holes in their network or firewall systems, or even in the OS itself in some cases. There are alot of great forums and blogs out there that can lend you more knowlege and information as IT Security is one of the fastest growing areas of networking Professionals. I suggest a few quick googles for what you are looking for coupled with keywords such as {hacking tools forums blogs} and just spend a couple of hours reading and skimming through what others have to say. In the end, use your best judgment about this as only you are responsible for the results of the programs you use.
