Answer Wiki:
Tons of them. For a good list to start with, go to www.insecure.org (Home of Nmap) and look at their tools page. Bob

I will re-recomend the previous – insecure.org ITs the easiest starting place. Most of best are listed.
Go to the Top Tools feature. Fyodor listed a bunch (he did leave out his own Nmap from the list as I recall).

There are few that I think weren’t on the list. One I like is winfingerprint, which does a passive collection of netbios transmissions.

Check blogs for new tools – tech.memeorandum, technorati, digg. I have some bookmarked, I’ll post any beyond fyodor’s list as soon as I can review my rss’es.

I would have to recommend sourceforge.net

* Running on my network

* OCS Inventory – Network Inventory Management
* JFFNMS – Just For Fun Network Management System (handy)
* MRTG – Multi Router Traphic Grapher
Open VPN – I’m yet to use this but sounds promising
Asterisk – Open Source PABX (can’t wait to play with this)

The top 3 are my favourite also for an IDS – Snort – the poor mans IDS……never used it will get around to it oneday

=> sorry, only information about system- and networkmonitoring. but the othrers already answered the part about security.

Zabbix
?Monitoring tool along the lines of Nagios and Cacti
written in PHP
?Has an agent application that collects all the common
metrics, can also use SNMP
?High quality output comparable to the other solutions
?Has nice support for application specific monitoring
?Interesting politics for patches, still under the GPL
