 System i Access Windows 7 V6R1 install error 1713
I'm installing System i Access for Windows V6 R1 M0 on a Windows 7 machine and I'm getting the "Error 1713...cannot install one of its required products" error.  I've tried deleting the installed objects, cleaning the registry, rebooting and installing.  No Luck. This is the first problem in about 100 identical installs.  What am I missing?

Software/Hardware used:

Answer Wiki:
My first thought is that your Windows 7 Machine is missing the following update/install package, Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistribution Package. This assumes Windows 7 32-Bit. Reboot, then try the install of Access i again. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=200B2FD9-AE1A-4A14-984D-389C36F85647&displaylang=en Are you installing all the components of System i Access? If not, which ones are you attempting to install? Is this an initial install of the application or patches being applied to the System i software? Regards. D.

If you are installing over the network try mapping the install location to a “drive letter”.

Good suggestions but so far no luck. We’ve installed the C++ patch, and we’ve tried mapping a drive letter and installing from the DVD, still no progress.

Final Answer: We wiped the hard drive and reloaded the Windows OS. Works fine now.

I there any other way, without wiping the Windows data? I have tried by installing VC++ package, but still this doesn’t work. Will appreciate the prompt answer . Thanks.

I had trouble getting V6 to install on Win7. On a suggestion from an IBMer, I installed CA V7 instead, and that worked fine.
