 System Attendant Mailbox
I'm running Exchange 2k3 Ent SP1 on a Win2k3 Sp1 server under AD 2k3. The first Storage Group/Mailstore created seems to have a system attendant mailbox. Can this be moved to another mailstore?

Answer Wiki:
The SAM is a component of Exchange that does a lot for each storage group, such as: *collects message-tracking data *builds routing group-based message routing table *generates gateway specific X.400 and SMTP addresses *handles specific security functions If you try to move the System Attendant mailbox, you receive the following error message: **Not available for exchangeAdminService objects** Hope this helps

In addition to Naraku’s comments, a system attendant mailbox is on each mailbox server. Ergo, you cannot move it to a new location because there is already one there.
If you need to remove the mailbox server, and you know that the system attendant mailbox is the only one that is left, then uninstall/remove the server (see KB’s).
No problems…just don’t move it.
