INSERT statement
SQL Server 2005
I have the following insert statement: insert into Resident(Identifier_Type,Identifier,Full_Name,Dob,DL_Number,DL_State,Change_User,Change_Date,Change_PropID) select N'SS',Social,Full_Name,DOB,DL_Number,N'TX',Change_User,Change_Date,Change_PropID from N'haa-sql1.imisTest.dbo.Resident' I'm getting an error on the N'haa-sql1.imisTest.dbo.Resident' This string refers to the sql server that resides on the server named haa-sql1 (default SQL 2000 install), database imisTest, setup by dbo, table Resident. I've tried importing the table using the wizard. This doesn't work because my table on the SQL 2005 server has an identity field. Now I'm trying to use an insert statement but it's not liking my syntax for the SQL 2000 server.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

What kind of errors are you getting? Do you have a linked server setup for the remote server? Try setting Identity Insert off for the identity table and do the import.
