Function uses an Access Path, and it's been determined that sometimes, the user doesn't have all the information needed to do a lookup. Boss wants to use a new/different access path. How do I do this? it won't have the same control fields in the subfile, so it won't compile. I'm stuck.

Ssboy, can you provide a few more specifics about what you are trying to do. Reading between the lines, it sounds like you want a new “display file” function (or modify the existing one) with a different set of sort/search fields. Here are the steps I would use:

1. Create a new RSQ access path, identifying the key fields in order and any include/omit criteria. The key fields will define the sorting of the subfile and will default into the subfile header (control) area as positioning or filtering fields. Gen and create the access path.
2. Copy my DSPFIL function to a new function that points to the new access path.
3. Edit the screen on my new function to correct errors, and fix the positioning and filtering fields the way I want them.
HTH, please reply back if this does not address your real question.
